Project Moses Annual Hike

Project Moses Annual Hike

A tradition started 3 years back of taking the young men who reside at our farm and participate in our Project Moses program on an overnight hike just before their Holy Week vacations. It is a great time of fellowship and challenge, as well as bonding. The adults who join them typically struggle much more than these young men who have mostly grown up in the mountains and hike up and down with ease. This year, instead of their traditional hike up the Celaque Mountain, the group hike a mountain called La Puca. While a shorter hike, it proved to be quite challenging with no clear paths and thick brush. After suffering through a day of uncharacteristic cold and as well as rain, they group awoke to the shining sun and an outstanding view of God’s creation. The summit gave a unique perspective that was well worth the time, sweat, and effort to reach. Moses, the namesake of the project, once stood with a similar view of the land promised to God’s people. The heights that give us an adequate view of where we’ve come from or where we are going help to shape the understanding of our position in God’s creation. The challenge of reaching the summit is akin to the opportunity offered to these young men. The Project gives each participant an appropriate perspective to guide their life by following God’s created order. Without a doubt, this trip is one they will remember for years to come.
